This double degree offers a distinct integration of psychology, counselling and human movement, exercise and sport, and provides you with a strong theoretical, practical and multi-disciplinary industry focus. This program is the only program of its type in South Australia with a core sequence of courses recognised by the Australian Counselling Association and Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) that can lead to accreditation as an exercise scientist.
Throughout the program, you will develop a holistic understanding of the impact of exercise and physical activity on biological, psychological and social parameters of human life, across populations and environments. You will gain an understanding of the theoretical basis of psychology and a solid introduction to the theory and practice of counselling, as well as develop critical, analytical thinking and data management skills.
Our health, sports, recreation and education industries are in need of joint expertise in human movement and psychological science, which is why we designed a double degree to meet these emerging market needs. As the only institution in South Australia to offer this combination recognised by industry, you’ll graduate with a specialised set of skills you can directly apply in the real world.
You’ll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience right from year one and immerse yourself in a third-year work placement in Human Movement studies. As a university ranked in the World Top 150 for Psychology (QS Subject Rankings 2014), you’ll also benefit from world-class teaching in this area.
I look forward to welcoming you on campus soon.
