Mental health conditions are a leading burden of disease for perinatal women and a major public health concern. Researchers, policy makers, service users and health professionals have highlighted the huge impact of mental health problems during the perinatal period and the need for improved care in this area. The increasing prevalence of postnatal depression in Australia has led to the introduction of universal psychological assessment by midwives.
This postgraduate program will extend the knowledge, skills and attitudes of registered midwives to support their practice in caring for women experiencing psychological distress or mental illness.
As part of this program, you’ll study online at your own pace and feel supported by on-campus workshops.
