Designed in consultation with industry and the accounting profession, our Master of Professional Accounting provides you with the specialised knowledge and business skills necessary to perform as a professional accountant. You will develop analytical, general business management and problem-solving skills, and gain a comprehensive understanding of accounting practice.
Our teaching staff are industry experienced and maintain close working links with leading professional bodies such as CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. This collaboration ensures the knowledge you take into your career will meet the dynamic needs of industry, and your qualification remains relevant and applicable.
As part of our Master program, you will study financial and management accounting, finance, commercial law, taxation law and auditing. You will also have opportunities to gain professional experience through case study based assessment and industry placements. Upon completion, you will be well equipped to pursue a career in Australia or overseas, in areas such as commerce, tax, financial management, or public practice.
The University of South Australia is a registered tuition provider for the CPA Program. From 2017 students have the opportunity to enrol concurrently in the professional level of the CPA Program with CPA Australia and undertake a CPA subject, BUSS 5426 CPA Ethics and Governance, as an elective in the Masters. This course will include preparation for the CPA Australia external exam. Students must enrol for the CPA Subject Exam at the commencement of this course.
Applicants may be eligible to enter the program with Advanced Standing and complete the requirements of the Masters in less than 2 years. Please see the entry requirements for further details.
