The Graduate Certificate in Surgical Pathology Preparation provides competent non-medical professionals currently working in the health sector with advanced training in the dissection, sampling and preparation of tissues for histopathological examination and diagnosis. It is designed to comply with the requirements specified by the National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council.

The program presents you with the opportunity to study, in an online learning environment, role-specific topics such as specimen recording, data storage and retrieval, standard operating procedures, OHS&W and equipment use, macro and microphotography, and explore the role of pathology assistants by professional organisations. Complementing your online study component, you will complete a competency-based surgical pathology workbook encompassing on-site supervised experience performing surgical pathology cut-up.

Graduates are expected to find clear professional advancement opportunities in pathology departments in the public and private sector.
