This program will not be offered in 2017
This program provides current practising midwives with the opportunity to further develop their knowledge and skills to upgrade to a tertiary qualification in midwifery. Following this one year program, midwives will be awarded a Bachelor of Midwifery.
Midwives provide care, supervision and advice to women during pre-conception, pregnancy, labour and birth, and postnatally. They play an important role in health counselling and education for women, their families and the community through the provision of antenatal education, preparation for parenthood, family planning and child health education. As part of their role, midwives engage in evidence-based practice and may be involved in research.
The Bachelor of Midwifery (Registered Midwife Entry) will provide you with a deeper understanding of research and lifelong learning. It can also provide you with a pathway into Honours, Masters and postgraduate studies in research.
