To explore the concept and practice of hospitality management in the context of the global tourism industry and its’ environment. The course provides a foundation for subsequent courses in the UniSA/ LCB MIHM program and prepares students to perform to the standards of postgraduate studies at UniSA.
Introduces students to the global hospitality industry at both a macro and micro level. At a macro level the course seeks to establish and define the role of the hospitality industry within tourism industries. Students will explore the tourism system, examine the structure, size of international tourism and hospitality industry and its stakeholders and evaluate the concept of hospitality. Explores and reviews the environmental factors and strategies that impact on the hospitality industry. Hospitality organisations and the management, operation and function of rooms division, food and beverage, marketing, finance and other key functional areas will be examined.
